There's Something Different about the Minimalist Concept that Francesc Rife Studio Applies to Men's Clothing Stores

Syifa Aisha Arashi | Monday, 25 July 2022

Minimalist interiors are usually translated by the design of a space that is warm and ergonomic, but Francesc Rife Studio creates a different feel to Nino Alvarez's interior. It is a menswear store located in Madrid, Spain, which still maintains a minimalist concept with the adoption of a gray color palette, thus creating tranquility by maintaining the identity focus of Nino Alvarez.

Francesc Rife Studio applied gray concrete as a background to accentuate the black marble tiles on some of the wall surfaces so that they looked like large-scale abstract paintings.

If you look carefully, the interior of Nino Alvarez is dominated by stainless steel which appears on every side of the room. Stainless steel is known to have properties that can reflect light well, so the presence of stainless steel can reflect sunlight and artificial lighting on the interior of Nino Alvarez, forming a pattern that further adds to the uniqueness of the interior.

Not without reason, Francesc Rife Studio applies stainless steel material to create a luxurious but "light-looking" impression, in the Nino Alvarez collection. With a minimalist approach, Nino Alvarez inevitably has to select a collection that will be displayed in limited quantities. Shoes, jackets, and shirts were displayed to a minimum to maintain a "light" visual on Nino Alvarez's interior.

Side by side with stainless steel and concrete, black oak is a supporting element to complement Nino Alvarez's interior due to its unique texture. This oak material functions as a table, display booth, and long shelf that crosses the space and penetrates the pillars of the building structure.

"This project enhances the identity of Nino Alvarez as a Spanish menswear brand without sacrificing its fashion philosophy. Although the illusions produced by stainless steel speak of change and experimentation, as well as the original character of Marquina marble, is reminiscent of the roots and style that has always defined the Nino Alvarez brand," Francesc Rife Studio explains.
