Delve Architect, has designed a gallery in Ivanhoe’s house in South London. Delve Architect created a space that has a dual function in the back area of the house as an exhibition area and can be a kitchen area. They extended the terrace of the house by applying brick material to the kitchen design to make it easier for the owner-Ivanhoe to turn the kitchen area into a gallery exhibition area that aims to display the work of local artists.

The terrace area has been extended to become a new lounge area, which has an area that seems to be clamped by 2 exposed brick walls. This lounge area has wide and high openings using sliding glass doors which are directly adjacent to the garden behind the house. The floor, stairs, and wall materials in the back garden have a fairly low height, exposed brick material is applied to cover it, giving rise to a cultured impression. Meanwhile, in the kitchen area, the use of brick, terrazzo ceramics, and precast concrete combined with a hidden picture rail and 2 lighting lines in the gallery creates a domestic impression.

With the latest innovation, the picture rail is hidden in the ceiling and the lighting is carefully placed so that the area can quickly turn the kitchen area and living area into a gallery space. By utilizing the width of the room, the arrangement in the room is used optimally, and the lighting can be evenly distributed. The exposed brick material is continuously applied to the walls from indoors to outdoors.

There are 2 new openings, double glazed windows instead of single glazed windows, and skylights made of wood frames that bring natural light into the kitchen area. With these openings, the indoor area still gets good lighting even though it has a solid wall covering.
