To solve the rising property values in Madrid, Spain, renovations were carried out on the former warehouse to revive the industrial space so that it would be maintained. Architectural firm BURR transformed Eulalia Gil into a residence and studio for photographer Juan Baraja. Eulalia Gil is a former warehouse building with remains of property unknown to the owner, used furniture, books in bad condition, and many other obsolete objects.

"Eulalia is part of a strategic toolkit to protect the city's industrial heritage and architectural interventions. Industrial activity in downtown Madrid has gradually declined in the last 30 years until it ends in the current situation, including explosive property value increases, noise or environmental protection measures, and traffic congestion," BURR said.

The existing condition of this warehouse is maintained to give the impression of a different space. The wall on the right side was left unpainted and used to display photographic works that were quite large in size. As a photographer, this corner is an opportunity to show the creativity that has been done so far. Another interior element is that the ceiling is exposed with a steel frame, characteristic of industrial buildings. The floor with concrete material was deliberately exposed to align the open roof frame. BURR tried to renovate the industrial space by adding some elements without changing the structure of the original building.

The private room is placed on a higher section and can be reached by an iron ladder. To maintain the owner's privacy, this area has a slidable warehouse door with green steel material and a striking bright yellow stair railing. This area contrasts with other parts of the space because it has different colors, shapes, and materials.

The living and lounge rooms, some of the furniture used is obtained from old items such as tables, chairs, and benches. Next to it, there is a long shelf used to store collections of old books. Despite using some old furniture that was rearranged, the new design of this room tries to align with all the elements to produce visuals that are not boring.

To meet the needs of the photographer's owner, an area is provided for work and work. This client's workbench is equipped with photo facilities for the required lighting. The hallways are also filled with pictures that have been filled with client camera shots and those that are still empty and prepared for future works. In addition to accommodating clients' needs, the project has also effectively become a means of restoring and preserving the industrial heritage in Madrid.
