The first impression that StudioDuo Architecture gives to guests who come to TINTO Nikkei Cuisine & Bar is open, warm, and simple. Although located in Saigon, Vietnam, this 150-square-meter restaurant and bar are intended to provide a menu of Japanese specialties.

StudioDuo Architecture is ambitious to bring the Japanese atmosphere to the fullest in TINTO Nikkei Cuisine & Bar through its interior concept that emphasizes simplicity. The interior design highlighted in this restaurant still pays attention to the condition of the site but also tries to realize its typical Japanese aspects.

This Japanese minimalist concept is then poured into a simple interior design. StudioDuo Architecture upholstered the interior walls of TINTO Nikkei Cuisine & Bar with washi paper to provide a Shoji-like visual – Japanese sliding doors. In addition, they also designed a typical Japanese wooden shelf (Tana) on the interior wall. Although it is not specially made and imitates typical Japanese interior elements, the details shown can bring a typical Japanese atmosphere.

Other typical Japanese details are presented through wood materials applied to the roof and furniture of the restaurant. In addition, they have created warmth in the interior of TINTO Nikkei Cuisine & Bar through wood materials. Not only that, but the team also added frescoes in the dining area as an element of decorating the space.

To support the comfort in the space, the architects arranged the restaurant layout by dividing the main area. The first area is arranged into a quiet dining area placed on the right side of the plan, while the other area functions as a bar equipped with high wooden tables and chairs.

The Japanese interior is not only famous for being warm and simple but also open because the Japanese love the sun very much. Therefore, the space openly provides access to natural light to illuminate the interior of Tinto Nikkei Cuisine & Bar during the day. Meanwhile, at night, the role of sunlight is replaced by red glowing lights that make the atmosphere of the space more intimate.

Even though it is located in Vietnam, quite far from Japan, StudioDuo Architecture managed to bring the typical atmosphere of the land of the rising sun through TINTO Nikkei Cuisine & Bar. So, the impression of open, warm, and simple can be felt by restaurant guests while dining food quietly and leisurely.
