An exhibition, East Lake International Ecological Sculpture Biennale, has been held at the Wuhan Shimenfeng Memorial Park, China. One of the works displayed is The Vanished House which was created by Field Conforming Studio, as an echo and representation of this burial place. The Vanished House is a statue in the form of a house overgrown with vines. The concept's as a symbol of a fireplace and a house that looks like it is separated from its structure and leaves a space formed by the vines that cover it.

The Vanished House presents a typical locality of buildings in Wuhan
Field Conforming Studio, based in China, stated that The Vanished House has the meaning of an architectural work reminiscent of lost living spaces, such as people and things of the past. The concept of The Vanished House was born from the thoughts of designers who wanted to present the distinctive locality of buildings in Wuhan. So that the form of a simple frame house is created, but has perfect details. The main aim of this work is how to convey a sense of “lost home” through vines sites.

The Vanished House was realized through laser engraving of Corten steel. This engraving takes a long time, the designer must carefully consider the engraving process by paying attention to the joints where the lines bend and intersect so that they become a single unit without intersecting. The designer revealed the reason for choosing Corten steel as a material. First, after rusting Corten steel will change color to dark red. This color can express the texture of the vines well. Second, The Vanished House is designed to create a space that people can enter.

Because the walls are formed by vines, it takes a certain strength to form a space without depending on other structural forms. Therefore, a 2 cm thick Corten steel plate is able to provide the structural strength the wall needs to support itself. Over time, the color of the Corten armor plate will become darker due to sun exposure and rain, so it will look more dramatic when occupying this cemetery.
