Designer Madeleine Oltra and architect Angelo de Taisne performed "Sardine Sardine," her best work for the 2022 Toulon Design Parade event, held until October 30th, 2022. The installation is dedicated to paying homage to campers in France in the 1970s. Sardine Sardine adopts visuals from the equipment associated with travel and camping.

Conceptually, Madeleine Oltra and Angelo de Taisne designed Sardine Sardine with their respective memories of camping to enjoy daylight saving time.  In addition, another inspiration came from a book by Jo and Roger Tourte entitled A Pied Autour Du Monde: Trois as de Camping, which does tell the story of Jo and Roger's three-year camping journey.

The name Sardine Sardine is taken from the term "sardines de tente," which means "tent peg". Therefore, in honor of the name of this installation, the designers installed two small tent pegs hung above the bed.

As it represents the joy of summer, this installation features a bright orange tent with windows covered with nets and supported by an aluminum structure as a support. The designers deliberately used aluminum as a structure and furniture because of its lightweight nature.

Inside the room, there are camping needs such as a bed made of aluminum covered with mattresses and silk blankets made by designers Lisa Favreau and Lisa Guedel-Dolle. In addition, camping tables and chairs are also designed using aluminum.

An interesting part is also visible on the installation floor. Designer Madeleine Oltra and architect Angelo de Taisne teamed up with Miss Source, designing a floor that adopted an old caravan floor style featuring wood and linoleum.

The installation also features unique details designed by other designers, such as aluminum tableware (forks, spoons, knives), ravioli, wooden sticks, matches, and buckles, all of these elements are sculpted and printed by designer Olga Flor. In further detail, designer Apsara Creations created a coiffeuse, an aluminum tripod with a tray and a mirror in the center adopted from an old caravan. The two links underneath are used to hang items such as water bottles or soap.

"Sardine Sardine tells the story of two campers who have gathered in this warm big tent, all kinds of objects that have lived through several previous trips, and other objects they imagined for their enjoyment and comfort." The designers said.
