Ben Allen's studio built an octagonal "little house" in the garden of a house in London that functions as an office, room, playground, reading, or just relaxation. This is A Room in the Garden, whose design is inspired by the Dunmore Pineapple pavilion built in the 18th century in Scotland.

Located in the garden, the room is deliberately dominated by the green color adopted from the color of artichokes. Getting references from fruits and vegetables, Studio Ben Allen poured green shades to be applied to the exterior and interior of A Room in the Garden to create harmony between the building and the surrounding garden. To maximize air and light gain, the room is equipped with large windows overlooking the garden and skylights that channel natural light into the room.

With a building area of 15 square meters, A Room in the Garden has two door leaves that serve to open up space to the garden during the summer months of June to August. The wood on the building structure centered on the roof creates a geometric pattern around the skylight.

"The interior is designed to adapt to the seasons," Studio Ben Allen said.

Studio Ben Allen explains, "The open wooden structure that soars to the ceiling blends in and frames the skylight providing a central focal point and upper light, ideal when looking for a place to read or for quiet contemplation."

Not only paying attention to the material and function, but Studio Ben Allen also applies a floor with two colors that form a geometry intended to "bring" geometric shapes in exterior corners into the interior of A Room in the Garden.

Interestingly, on one side next to the door, there is compact furniture that can function as a lounge chair as well as a bed when opened. The interior of A Room in the Garden also features a long table overlooking the garden, this allows users to work while looking at the garden thus making the user calmer.

A Room in the Garden by Studio Ben Allen only takes approximately 20 days from the design process to construction. Because this building is easy to build and deconstruct, it allows the building to be able to change places when one day the owner moves to another place.
