A house with a fairly challenging site location is on a slope in the mountains of Pupuya, Chile. With an area of 30m x 280m wide, architects use the land without changing its natural contours. But behind the difficult land conditions, there is an extraordinary landscape view. This is well-spent by Nicolas CRUZ arquitectos to explore to the fullest.

To maximize the space program with challenging land conditions, S House was designed to break the building into four parts with two masses. These two masses of buildings are distinguished by private and public space and connected by the primary access from the entrance. While these four sections are the entrance and garage section, the public and rooftop section, the private part is the bedroom, family room, and kitchen, as well as the terrace and outdoor gathering room. All are connected by the circulation that is between the two mass compositions.

To maximize the potential and challenges of the project land, Nicolas CRUZ arquitectos designed this house with steel as the main structural material, with adjustments to the height of the stage poles. In addition, architects also maximize the comfort and safety of users by using wood and glass materials. This material was chosen because wood can present an atmosphere of warmth in a dwelling and residents become closer to nature, while the use of glass in some openings is an effort to remove the barrier between residents and nature. This material is also expected to maintain air circulation, and natural lighting can optimally enter the building.
