Pure White Volume at the End of the Search for Silence

Aryo Sumbogo | Tuesday, 20 September 2022

The K House appears calm in pure white volumes and smooth. From the outside, this house offers comfort and silence. Pitsou Kedem Architects decided to start the design of K House by creating a sequence of spaces that can provide relief from visually and audibly crowded external conditions. First, through a simple façade to protect the silence inside the house from the intervention of the outside environment.

However, when visiting the interior of K House, the dominance of the white surface will be slowly replaced by a colorful atmosphere. Each room seems to have a relationship with other elements of the house, such as a beautiful green garden and swimming pool. In addition, some abstract contours on the house's outer walls have added to the mysterious impression of K House. As shadows and light move towards the spaces inside the house, those abstract contours will dramatically emphasize the dimensions of their depth.

Standing in an extreme climate environment, the K House design must be able to cope with the heat and sunlight that radiates almost all year round. Therefore, Pitsou Kedem Architects also installed a double casing on the house's façade to keep the spaces behind it shaded and protected.

If from the outside the K House seems very simple, then the inside will suggest another atmosphere but still imply silenceIf from the outside the K House seems very simple, then the inside will suggest another atmosphere but still imply silence.

The trees and plants that withstand extreme climates are considered for the house's gardens, especially for the courtyard between the master suite and the study room on the ground floor. The courtyard played a role in keeping both rooms cool, despite their very personal nature and separation from the outdoor space.

As a clean and refined architectural volume, K House found comfort and tranquility for residents. They can comfortably spend time in this house without worrying about outside world activities or extreme climatic conditions.
