Harrierfall Hostel is a rustic hotel carefully designed by DL Atelier, located in Shuiguan, Huairou, Beijing, China. The hostel is expected to provide every visitor with a unique "breaking away from daily life" and "here and now" lifestyle experience. In addition, this site hostel is located not far from the Great Wall of China and on the "Beijing knot" Route of Harrier Castle, which is famous for its 300-year-old locust trees.

Because the site is unique with strong characteristics, an attraction that cannot be ignored, DL Atelier designed this hostel carefully to connect the emotional connection between visitors and this potential. This hostel is designed not just a "house building". Still, it resembles an "amusement park" with the characteristics of interchange between reality and fantasy while maintaining the character of the three existing houses. The journey begins at the main entrance at the end of a narrow street, called a small rooftop loft that reflects light from inside the hostel, making the attic look like a lamp hanging between the gate and the beacon tower. Shortly after entering the hostel, visitors will be greeted by an empty original courtyard with spacious corridors that can be used to sit. The roof of this corridor also functions as a frame facing the Great Wall, with an open wooden staircase bringing a sense of warmth and forming a connection with the courtyard.

In addition, the roof on the west side is adjusted to the height of the tree behind the site to reveal the crown of the tree. In this area, a façade in the form of silver metal corrugated perforated plates is added, which gives a vague effect. At the same time, the two-story building is left with wide openings producing an ancient green locust shadow on the glass curtain wall attracting people up to enjoy the view.

A wooden staircase is placed in the empty courtyard of this house, as well as a focal point of the landscape and evokes a sense of "danger" for visitors. DL Atelier adopts the method of changing the scale and shape of steps, and wooden construction after learning traditional theory and craftsmanship. The arrangement of wooden stairs is inspired by the roof frame of ancient buildings, with the arrangement of stairs that can look like the ruins of houses even ancient trees that have died and large stones intertwined in it add to the impression; This step is reinforced by the interior of this hostel, where the furniture in the lower room, seating or mattresses even sink, this offers a calm view out the window and changes the perspective of visitors regarding "danger" and feeling more beauty many.

DL Atelier chose "danger" as a planning move inspired by the Great Wall that has enough energy and courage to change something big on earth, despite still fantasizing about the surprises expected when facing it. The "danger" that is deliberately created stimulates the atmosphere of "stability" to be while the visitor is calmer and more relaxed the "destruction" part gives rise to "stability" as a whole.
